Donating Art

My mother told me today that my little brother’s girlfriend is an aspiring photographer and that she was studying photography in Seattle {how lucky!}. She was interested in what I was doing and had several questions for me {about the program, about photography and stuff…}; it feels nice to have someone that looks up to me in the art world. πŸ™‚

It was only hours later that I was flattered to be the artist that she {the girlfriend} would go to for donating for her school in a silent auction… Wow. The experience of being an artist whom others admire has been new to me. I have never been one to brag about my work, or show it off… but being in this business, being in the eyes of the public is kind of what makes a business a business… you know? It still shocks me to hear that someone has my work hanging on the walls of their house, or that my work was used in a mailing piece {like invitations or announcments, or even gifts}. YES, I am still shocked.

So, now I have to find a few pieces of my work to share in a silent auction in Seattle… Seattle to me, is one of the most inspiring, creative, and art-filled cities that I have ever been to {which is saying something, because I’ve been to about 28 states so far}. What in the world am I going to come up with to enter into this auction, when I live in Kentucky!?! I guess a little back-dating is due. Hopefully the image I choose will benefit her school with all it’s might!

I feel like I have big shoes to fill… any suggestions?

Love to all,
Elise @ EMP
